Attorney and Associate Development Director

Tate was born and raised in rural Oregon: he has deep roots in agriculture and an appreciation for the value and use of natural resources, having grown up on a wheat and cattle ranch. Tate received his undergraduate degree from Oregon State University, then, after a stint working back on the family ranch, attended Lewis & Clark Law School, where he earned a Certificate in Natural Resources/Environmental Law. Tate was one of WRLC’s first law clerks.

Tate is admitted to practice law in Oregon and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.

Western Resources Legal Center

Western Resources Legal Center (WRLC) is an independent 501(c)(3) legal education organization affiliated with the Lewis and Clark Law School. WRLC is currently the nation’s only hands-on legal training program specializing in legal education advocacy on behalf of natural resource users located throughout the United States.

WRLC provides training to the law students of the national ranked (#2 U.S. News and World Report) WRLC also serves the natural resources industries in policy and legal work, not only in the West, but nationwide. WRLC trained students and law graduates have been placed in externships and with public and private employers in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Texas, and Washington DC.
